Silk DHA Omega-3 & Calcium Soy Milk

Zero Complaints: Although Higher in Price, it is Worth It!

My son has a liking for soy milk. I do not really mind this particular preference especially since we do not depend on milk as our single source for calcium and since the calcium that is in milk and soy milk is similar. However, I try and find him the best soy milk that I can. Recently we were at the milk, or rather soy milk, cooler at the grocery store and we saw Silk DHA Omega-3 & Calcium Soy Milk. This was the first time that I had seen this product from Silk, however I was no stranger to their other soy milks. It was a little more expensive then the regular flavor but I thought that we would try it out anyway.

Most of the soy milk was drank by my son but in order to give a thoughtful opinion on it I found it necessary to taste the Silk DHA Omega-3 & Calcium Soy Milk. I honestly thought that it tasted better than the company's original flavor. It was not that it was sweeter or anything, but rather that it was smoother. One thing that I have always liked about the Silk brand is that they have a very smooth taste and this one was no exception. I was almost disappointed that I had not bought more so that I could enjoy more of it. My son, who is four, did not have any complaints about the new soy milk and seemed to like it just as much as what he was use to. The soy milk claimed to support brain and bone health so I was eager to look over the ingredients and nutrition facts.

The ingredients for this soy milk are all natural soy milk made of filtered water and whole soybeans, all natural evaporated cane juice, calcium carbonate, natural flavors, flax oil, sea salt, carrageenan, DHA algal oil, dipotassium phosphate, tricalcium phosphate, sodium ascorbate, which is vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc gluconate, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin B6, vitamin D2, riboflavin, which is viatmin B2, Vitamin B12, and folic acid. Flax oil and the ingredients DHA algal oil through zinc gluconate, vitamin B6, and folic acid are not found in the ingredients of original Silk. In the Silk DHA Omega-3 & Calcium Soy Milk there was 110 calories of calories with 45 calories from fat. This is 10 calories more than regular soy milk from Silk and 10 more calories from fat. There was 120 milligrams of sodium, 8 grams of total carbohydrates, 1 gram of dietary fibers, 6 grams of sugars, and 7 grams of protein which were the same amounts as the regular Silk. There were also 350 milligrams of potassium, which is 50 milligrams that regular Silk. The vitamins and minerals were more different than original Silk.

The Silk DHA Omega-3 & Calcium Soy Milk had 20% listed for vitamin A, twice as much as the original Silk. The DHA Omega-3 soy milk had 35% for vitamin C, compared to 0%, and listed phosphorus with 10%, vitamin B6 with 30%, vitamin K 15%, and vitamin E with 20% while the original did not list these. I was very pleased to see vitamin C in soy milk, this is uncommon and so it was nice to see that there was a lot and that it included more vitamins. The DHA Omega-3 soy milk listed 40% for calcium, 10% more than the original, 20% for folate, 14% more than the original, and zinc with 10%, 4% more than the original. Both listed 6% for iron, 30% for vitamin D, 30% for riboflavin, 50% for vitamin B12, 10% for magnesium, and 8% for selenium. The vitamins and minerals were great, I had zero complaints about them.

If money is not an object then I highly recommend the Silk DHA Omega-3 & Calcium Soy Milk. I hope to get it again and plan on keeping an eye out coupons and sales for it. I really do not have any complaints about the product. It taste great and has wonderful ingredients and nutrition facts. I am very glad that I tired it and hope to keep getting it in the future for as long as we are getting soy milk.
