Silk PureAlmond Vanilla Almond Milk Review

I Loved it and Highly Recommend It

Recently my son and I tried 8th Continental Light Vanilla Soy Milk and while we both enjoyed the taste I was not happy with the ingredients. Additionally, we recently started drinking almond milk and were pleased with the ingredients of Silk PureAlmond Original Flavor Almond Milk. So, when I saw that Silk had almond milk that was vanilla flavored, I thought that we would give it a try.

I was not only getting use to drinking almond milk, but I was actually starting to like it a lot more than when we got soy milk. I found myself craving a glass of it, which is very unusual for me who usually only drinks it in a smoothie or cereal. I figured that the vanilla flavor would be the same unless the vanilla flavor tasted artificial. Well luckily for me and my son the flavor was much better than what the soy milk had tasted like and was a nice addition to the almond flavor. Silk PureAlmond Vanilla Almond Milk tasted so much better and natural. I thought that it worked well in fruit smoothies and by itself. I thought that it was a bit sweeter than I prefer in sugary cereals. That being said I do not have the average liking of sweets so I am sure most people would be perfectly happy with the vanilla almond milk on a sugary cereal. However this was not really an issue because 90% of the cereals we eat are very hearty and having a sweet milk to put on them was actually really nice. My son of course was happy with it in all types of cereals. After reading the nutrition facts I was more than happy giving him the vanilla almond milk.

In one cup of Silk PureAlmond Vanilla Almond Milk there is 90 calories with 25 calories from fat. There was 150 milligrams of sodium, 60 milligrams of potassium, 16 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fiber, 15 grams of sugars, and 1 gram of protein. It was packed with vitamins with 10% listed for vitamin A and zinc, 45% listed for calcium, 25% listed for vitamin D and riboflavin, 4% listed for magnesium, iron, and manganese, 2% listed for copper, and 50% listed for vitamin E and vitamin B12. According to the carton the vanilla almond milk had 10 calories less than 1% milk, and 20 calories less than 1% lactose-free milk. Additionally it had 50% as much calcium as these two milks, the same amount of vitamin D, 50% more antioxidant vitamin E, which the other two milks listed 0% for, and unlike the other two milks it was free of saturated fat and cholesterol. While the nutrition facts were low in protein this was expected in almond milk, so I was pleased with the nutrition facts. I was pleased with the ingredients as well.

The ingredients of Silk PureAlmond Vanilla Almond Milk are all natural almond milk made of filtered water and almonds, all natural evaporated cane juice, calcium carbonate, sea salt, natural vanilla flavor, locust bean gum, gellan gum, sunflower lecithin, d-alpha-Tocopherol, which is natural vitamin E, zinc gluconate, vitamin A palmitate, riboflavin, which is vitamin B2, vitamin B12, and vitamin D2. Also, the almonds used in the almond milk were not genetically engineered and it was made in the United States. With such lovely ingredients I really could not complain about them. The almond milk never lost its flavor. It stays good for up to ten days. I believe that we had it opened for about a week and the whole way through it tasted as good as on day one. If you like to drink almond milk but feel like you need something to counter the almonds a little then this is probably a great choice.

I will definitely be getting the Silk PureAlmond Vanilla Almond Milk again. I would recommend it to anyone who likes almond milk and likes a natural vanilla taste. In addition to tasting good this had absolutely wonderful ingredients and great nutrition facts for almond milk. If I had to choose between this vanilla almond milk and the vanilla soy milk I would choose this one any day. I was so pleased that I decided to try it. It was the same price as the original flavor and so it was a nice treat at no extra cost.

Great article. My favorite almond milk is Blue Diamond Original Unsweetened. I wrote a comparison review of Blue Diamond vs. Silk Pure Almond here if you'd like to read: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2791950/blue_diamond_almond_breeze_vs_silk.html
