Silk Road Online

Silk Road Online (also commonly called SRO) is a free MMORPG that is based primarily around killing stuff. The game is supposed to be a reproduction the real Silk Road trade routes, but on a smaller skill. It also includes fantasy based enemies and spells, which obviously were not on the real silk road. The company that started Silk Road Online, Joymax, is another South Korean company creating free online games that sell in game items for real money.

Skills

Other than the standard combat skills, there are 3 other skills you can raise. These are: Thief, Trader, Hunter. You are not limited to choosing one, but if you raise opposites (Be a trader, then a thief, etc) your original skill will lose EXP based on how much you level the other skill.

Quests

These, like the rest of the game, are based on killing stuff. You will commonly be asked to kill X number of these monsters. They also may ask you to get X number of items from killing a certain enemy. Most of the quests are fairly lucrative though. You can gain quite a bit of experience from the quests, so they are generally worth doing.

Items

There are numerous items, weapons and armor to choose from. There are 5 categories of weapons (Sword, Blade, Spear, Glavie, and Bow) and 8 types in each of these. Clothing/Armor has 3 categories (Armor, Protector, and Garment) and 8 levels of armor in these. Each level contains 14 different items (7 for Male and 7 for Female). There are also horses which you are able to ride, which makes traveling large distances much easier. There are also many other items, such as HP recovery herbs, etc.

Misc.

They currently need servers desperately. Connecting at certain times can be very aggravating, as in order to retry, you have to restart the game (It closes automatically when the server is full). You can purchase a premium ticket for $20, which means you can login regardless, but then they drop someone else from the server. You also cannot use the same characters on different servers. For example, if you created a character on Poseidon, you cannot use him/her on Persia. Sometimes the game will randomly crash. This is not a huge problem, but can be somewhat frustrating.

Overall Rating: 7/10

It's a fun game, but gets repetitive. It also has some problems that if/when solved, will improve the game greatly. Adding new skills to the game is one of them.
