Silk Wedding Frame Centerpieces on a Budget

You can make your own silk covered picture frames and use them as an elegant and custom wedding centerpiece on your wedding reception dinner tables. You can customize these silk picture frames to match your wedding flowers, the bride and groom's names, or even the wedding date.

To Make These Silk Picture Frame Wedding Centerpieces You Will Need:

Silk by the yard

Silver or gold Gutta

Silk Paint

Paint brushes

Card board picture frames

Fabric glue or tacky glue

Scissors

Go ahead and take the back off of the cardboard picture frames. These cardboard picture frames are super affordable and can be bought in many sizes at the local craft store.

Cut out a rectangle of silk fabric that is a few inches longer and wider than the picture frame.

Lay the picture frame face down on the silk fabric. Cut out the center or the fabric where it is in the middle of the frame opening.

Cut small lines in each corner so you can fold the silk up and back onto the frame.

Run a small bead of glue around the opening on the back of the frame. Wrap the silk up and over the edges to cover the inside the frame.

Repeat this on the outside of the frame.

Let the glue dry and move onto your next cardboard frames.

Now, once all the glue has dried you want to turn your silk cover wedding photo frames over.

Dip yoru paint brush into the silk paint and tap it on yoru wrist over the frame to create splatters, swirls, and fun colorful patters. DO NOT saturate the fabric. This will wet the cardboard.

Now, let this paint dry on yoru wedding photo centerpieces.

Now, use yoru silver, copper, or gold colored gutta to add written or other detail to the silk. You can draw on flowers, the bride and groom's names, their wedding date, or words special to them.

You can also create swirls, polka dots, or simply highlight the silk paint splatters and dots.

The colored gutta will need to dry completely.

Now, go ahead and reinsert the glass or sheet fo clear plastic back into the wedding photo frame. Add a photo of the bride and groom or one or the other.

Close the frames.

Use four silk painted wedding centerpiece photos frames on each table. Have their backs facing each other to create a square in the middle of the table.

You can finish the look of these silk hand painted photo frames with a vase of flowers or even a candle in a votive in the middle!
