I was so disappointed when Cafe Matou closed in Bucktown. It was there for about 10 years and my boyfriend and I would go there at least once a month. The new restaurant, set to occupy the space vacated by Matou, opened January 11, 2010, at 1846-48 North Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. The new place, called Silom 12, is a Thai restaurant that will feature entrees such as Duck Delight, Chilean Sea Bass, Crispy Pork Shank and Osso Buco, which is braised veal shank.

The actual name of the restaurant came from a street in Thailand and the buzz is that the restaurant will mix traditional Thai food with contemporary Asian cuisine. Since I seem to plan most of the events at my job, and if Silom 12 is as good as everyone is saying it is, I might have our next get together there. They have rooms that can accommodate corporate events and parties.

If you want more information on Silom 12, you can call them at 773-489-1212 or check out their website to take a look at their menu.
