Silver Lake
I can hear His name;
Whispered on the water;
Shimmering silver waves;
Lightened by the summer sun;
I sit on a simple bench;
And I say a prayer;
As I listen to the water;
Lapping upon the shore;
An old green fishing boat;
Waits for its companion;
While being gently tossed about;
Today I have no camera;
My notebook left at home;
So I try my best to retain these images;
Houses, piers, and inflatable rafts;
The company of good friends;
And the laughter of those;
Who are playing in the water;
The smell of fresh pine;
And the feel of the wind;
Blowing across the lake;
How good it is to be here!
What a blessing it is;
To find a respite from daily cares;
And preoccupied thoughts;
To watch the hummingbirds feed;
Or to dangle bare feet;
Off the edge of a boat;
A quiet place to think and pray;
Another sweet memory;
That I will carry always;
