Silver Prices Are High - Cash in Using a Metal Detector to Locate Silver Coins

Frank Pandozzi
Silver prices are at an all time high. According to the charts at http://silverprice.org/silver-price-history.html, over the past twenty years, silver has gone from $3.55 an ounce to $20.58 an ounce.

The values of silver coins, and jewelry has appreciated to a point where many people who never thought of owning silver are now buying.

As the dollar drops to historical lows, precious metals like silver, gold, copper and platinum keep moving to new highs.

Owning a metal detector is a great tool that can help you cash in on the high prices of silver.

Many of us who own metal detectors, have known for years that finding dropped silver coins and jewelry can ad extra cash to our pockets. If you have been thinking about purchasing a metal detector, then now is the time.

Five Areas to Literally Cash in With a Metal Detector.
Old Schoolyards

Think about how many children, over the years, lost their lunch money while playing on school grounds. How about all of the baseball, football, and soccer games that were played in schoolyards. I know that schoolyards, especially the older ones, are a holding place for coins.

The old schoolyards will contain more silver coins. Up until 1965 coins like dimes, and quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars contained all silver. After 1965, because of a silver shortage, coins became known as "clad" because the silver was eliminated from the coins. Therefore, the best coins for resale, the coins wanted the most by buyers, are coins minted before 1965. So, if your going to metal detect around schools, look for the older schoolyards.

Old Parks

Parks, especially the older parks, like old schoolyards, have been a great place to use a metal detector. Over the years, thousands of people have frequented

parks for picnics and games. While they are having fun in the sun, people are losing coins and jewelry. I know many people who own metal detectors that always find lost coins and jewelry every time they detect in a park.

Old Amusement Parks

Old amusement parks hold many old coins. You need to do your research to locate the older parks, but if you do, they can be a gold mine, I mean a silver mine. However, because gold is also at an all time high, finding a gold coin would be an even greater reward. Unfortunately, not many people owned gold coins, so you are better off searching for that silver. Old Fair Grounds

Years ago, every town had a local fair grounds. During the summer months, this was a great form of entertainment. Each year, thousands of people congregated at the fair. While they were there, people were spending money, and they were losing it. I have found many dropped coins in and around the old fair grounds of small towns.

However, it is hard to find the old fair grounds because they are no longer being used. You need to do some research to locate them.
Old Churchyards

Old churchyards are a great place to use a metal detector.

Hundreds of years ago, the churchyard was a meeting place for picnics, games and fairs.

Just about every town, village and hamlet had a church. Therefore, locating the older churches is not hard; most of them are still standing.

I have found many older, silver coins and jewelry that were lost in old churchyards.

With silver prices as high as they are today, you can find enough silver and old jewelry, just by concentrating your detecting in the above areas. In doing so, you can locate enough silver, to offset your cost of a metal detector.

Be sure to always ask permission to use your metal detector on private properties.
