Farm Animal Movies to Help Entertain Stir-crazy Kids, Teens and Adults Alike

When the weather gets hot, children's cartoon movies are a hit for kids who want to beat the summer heat by staying indoors. Give indoor movie time a quirky twist by designating themed movie days. Many kids love farm animals like cows, pigs and chickens, so a farm-themed party can be a good choice for a family friendly movie night. Read on for a few quick farm-themed movie suggestions that will give your farm-loving visitors a taste of animated farm animal movies.

Chicken Run

Chicken Run is an animated movie that was released in 2000 by Aardman Animations, the geniuses responsible for the awesome Wallace and Gromit series. Notable stars gracing Chicken Run with their voice talents include Mel Gibson. Chicken Run is a clean, fun family movie that is entertaining for all ages, even snotty teenagers who think everything is lame.

Charlotte's Web

Though a 2006 live-action movie version of Charlotte's Web is also a great recommendation, the 1973 animated feature version is a classic farm animal themed cartoon that will tug at the heartstrings of children everywhere. Charlotte's Web is a touching story, set on a farm, of the friendship between a farm pig, Wilbur, and a spider, Charlotte, who resides over Wilbur's home in the farm. Charlotte's Web deals with issues of aging and dying, so it is not recommended for small children to watch alone. This movie includes appearances from farm animals like sheep, pigs, cows, a rat named Templeton, chickens, and many more.

Animal Farm

Released in 1954, Animal Farm is a cartoon feature based on George Orwell's book of the same name. Animal Farm is about animals overthrowing the humans on an Animal Farm and governing the farm themselves. This movie teaches some lessons about the power of government and abuses of power. Though the animation is old and somewhat dark and scary, the characters are fun and the movie is interesting to watch even for kids who will not understand the moral lesson. This movie centers on pigs but features many farm animals.

Themed movie watching gatherings can give kids a structured way to enjoy older cartoons that might not otherwise appeal to their generation. Understanding the age and maturity of a group at a themed party can help a host choose the right cartoon for the occasion. Farm-themed movies offer a fun break for kids and can supplement an event with games and prizes that go along with the movie.

I don't remember the last time I so COMPLETELY agreed with anyone elses list about ANYTHING. I guess this means we share discriminating taste, benign insanity or possible brilliance!
