SilverWood Theme Park-A Wonderful Family Adventure!

Karen Lewis
Silverwood is about 20 minutes north of Coeur d' Alene on highway 95. The parking for the park is across the street and there is a $2 parking fee. The adult admission price was $23.99 + 6% tax per person. I'm not sure what the children's prices are but kids two and under are free. This park is a must visit for people of all ages, and has plenty of rides, games, shows and eateries. It is not quite a Disneyland, but it is a fun place to visit nonetheless, and the smaller size makes it feel more like a community.

They have three major roller coasters The Corkscrew, Timber of Terror, and Tremors. The Corkscrew is the shortest roller coaster but is loads of fun to ride, and the wait is not too bad. Timber of Terror is a wooden roller coaster that has a 85 foot drop and it's speed is about 55 miles per hour. Tremors is the scariest out of the roller coasters. It's also a wooden roller coaster and it goes underground five times. It has a 103 foot drop going down into the first underground tunnel which given the effect that your falling into a deep pit. And it has speeds of around 60 miles per hour.

There was a bit of a wait for Thunder Canyon, but once we got on the ride it was completely worth it. It's a ride that's suppose to be like rafting down a river. It has a large circular raft that about eight people can fit on and this ride will have you laughing the entire time! If you plan on going on this ride be sure wear clothes that can get wet, because you will get very very wet! The other water ride is called Roaring Creek Log Flume. It's a very fun ride where you sit in a log shaped raft and travel downstream until you come to a hill which you crest before freefalling to the bottom. The majority of the rest of the rides are your run of the mill carnival style rides like the Tilt-A-Whirl and the Ferris Wheel.

There are a bunch of fast food eateries in the park but if you want something a little classier, they have a wonderful restaurant called Lindy's Victorian Restaurant which is very nice. It is also famous for its wonderful barbeque ribs with portions that could fill up a football player! There may be a bit of a wait, but the food is completely worth it. It is a nice way to take a break from all the rides, or to end your day at the park by eating somewhere nice.

After you are finished eating, if you are sick of the rides, or want to refrain from going on anymore to avoid being sick, there are plenty of other fun things to do at Silverwood Theme Park. There are tons of carnival booths with different games to play, such as, Whack-A-Mole, Shooting Games, Tossing rings into fishbowls, or balls into cups where you can win really great prizes. There also is a variety of entertainment available, with anything from magicians, to comedians to musicians, with A+ quality shows. There is also an ice show in the Ice Palace, which small kids and adults alike will love.

All in all, Silverwood theme Park is a wonderful place to take the family, or even go with your significant other. If you are camping there is an RV park across the street or there is lodging available in Coeur d' Alene. The park may not be Disneyland size, but it has a wonderful community feel and enough attractions to keep you and your family busy for a few days. I highly recommend this park to everyone, people of all ages will have a wonderful time.
