Plus, He Predicted a Winner for Season Eight!

Simon Cowell appeared on today's episode of the Oprah show. After introducing the next big musical acts from around the globe, Oprah Winfrey cornered the elusive judge of American Idol by asking about his possible departure from the endearing and popular TV reality show, American Idol. Appearing to be a bit uncomfortable, Cowell explained that his contract with American Idol is up at the end of next season, thus giving us a hint that he may indeed leave the show. However, he continued by saying "the door is open," meaning that should a high enough offer come in, he may accept it. Oprah was convinced that this would be the case, and called his probable offer "crazy money."

Will Simon Cowell leave American Idol after the next season? There still is no definitive word one way or the other. However, most viewers are hoping that he will sign another contract. He explained to Oprah that he enjoyed doing the show in Los Angeles, especially the last few week's of this season's competition. My personal prediction is that American Idol will gain more viewers than ever during the season's finale. The producers will be happy and make an offer even stodgy Cowell can't refuse.

At the end of the show, Oprah asked Simon who he thought would win. Adam Lambert was his choice because he is "different and memorable". He went on to say that he thought this season's finale would be the most exciting ever.

This past week, the three remaining Idol contestants returned home for brief visits and to tape their hometown segments. It is reported that Danny Gokey returned to the church in Milwaukee where his wife's funeral was held. It was a joyous event attended by more than 1,000 friends, family and fans. He also performed at a Brewers-Cubs baseball game. Kris Allen received a very warm and loud reception when he visited his hometown of Conway, Arkansas. Adam Lambert hopped into a stretch limousine that took him all over his hometown of San Diego.

Tomorrow night's competition will really heat up, as each of the remaining three contestants will perform two songs - one song that the judges choose and one song they select for themselves. Will Simon's prediction come true? Tune in to find out.
