Simon Cowell's Single for Haiti: "Everybody Hurts" to Feature Susan Boyle, Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Jon Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, Miley Cyrus and Others

The UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, requested that Simon Cowell put together a CD to help raise funds for the Haiti earthquake survivors and the rebuilding of Haiti. This track, a remake of REM's "Everybody Hurts" will be available to the public on February 1, 2010.

Susan Boyle will participate in singing the REM hit song "Everybody Hurts" for the Simon Cowell CD for Haiti. She has been selling a lot of CDs lately, so her presence on this charity single will hopefully be a big draw for sales. Also participating in this project are American singers such as Miley Cyrus, Jon Bon Jovi, and Mariah Carey.

Simon Cowell has confirmed that other British singers on this track will include Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, James Blunt, JLS, and Alexandra Burke. The Irish band Westlife will also participate in the single. Canadian singer Michael Buble will also contribute to the musical project for Haiti.

The band REM has agreed to forego collecting royalties for the use of their song in this project. Kudos to REM for donating their creative property to a project to help Haiti. The remake of REM's song is being produced by Steve Robson.

This song choice seems perfect for this project. Haiti is in such terrible crisis and people worldwide are feeling their pain too as the images and videos from Haiti give us an up- close view of the destruction and suffering there.

Simon Cowell is enthused about the participation of the singers in his projects. He told The Sun "It's amazing these great singers are clearing their schedules to make this happen....It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti. This is something that really matters to us all, and I'm so grateful for the support we are getting."

Funds raised via sales of the Simon Cowell single for Haiti will be donated between two charities, "the Sun's Helping Haiti fund and the official Disasters Emergency Committee appeal" according to MTV.

It will be fascinating to see how many copies of this remake of "Everybody Hurts" sells. Events to help Haiti are setting records; the Hope for Haiti telethon organized by George Clooney has raised $57 million dollars thus far.

Will Simon Cowell's charity single make even more money for Haiti? Time will tell.

I made my donation to Haiti but I will definetly contribute again if this record comes out. It will be very special because down to earth Susan Boyle will sing too. I am sure many Susan Boyle's fans will buy it making this project a positive accomplishment on behalf of Haiti. Our prayers to all of those affected in the earthquake. New Jersey USA

I am surprised Bon Jovi isn't doing something on his own, he is very giving person and usually jumps in to help.
