Monjack's Death Follows Death of Wife Brittany Murphy
Simon Monjack was pronounced dead shortly after Los Angeles Police responded to a call received around 9:20 pm Sunday, May 23, 2010. It was Brittany Murphy's mother, Sharon who discovered Monjack's unconscious body and called police. Monjack's death occurred just five-months after the tragic death of his wife, Brittany Murphy. Brittany Murphy's death was attributed to pneumonia complicated by anemia and several different drug intoxications. Actress Brittany Murphy died in December 2009. Murphy and screenwriter, Simon Monjack married in 2007.

Simon Monjack's Career
Simon Monjack is most famous for his marriage to actress Brittany Murphy. He had achieved some success in Hollywood as both a screenwriter and as a director and producer. In 2000, he wrote, directed and produced the B-movie Two Days, Nine Lives. He received story credit (following some controversy) for the 2006 biopic, Factory Girl. The film, which was about Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick, starred English actress Sienna Miller.
Simon Monjack's Legal and Financial Woes
Simon Monjack's history is less than pristine. The screenwriter has a history of legal and financial woes including an arrest in the state of Virginia in 2005 for credit card fraud.
