DIY Beauty - Gentle Facial Exfoliating Scrub
This is an inexpensive DIY facial scrub that can be made from simple ingredients found in your kitchen.
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 cup of ground oatmeal
1/2 cup of powdered milk (whole or non-fat is fine)
2 tsp cornmeal
Filtered Water
How to prepare the DIY Facial Exfoliating Scrub:
First, mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix together well and transfer the finished product to a resealable container.
To use the scrub you will need to combine 1 tbsp of your dry scrub mix with enough filtered water to form a thick paste. Make sure it is thick and not runny or watery. Gently massage in a circular motion over your face and neck. Leave on your face and neck for 3-5 minutes. Finally rinse with warm water and pat your skin dry.
Note: The dry mix will make about 16 ounces of dry scrub mix. You can keep the mix for up to 6 months in a container sealed air tight. Use this easy DIY facial scrub three times a week for best results.
DIY Beauty - Skin Lightening Mask
This easy DIY Beauty Mask is great for anyone with sun-damaged skin, skin with a longtime Farmers Tan, blotchy skin and dry facial skin. I have used this all natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid mask and it works great.
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 fresh papaya (peeled and cut into small cubes)
1/2 fresh pineapple (peeled and cut into small cubes)
How to prepare the DIY Skin Lightening Mask:
You will need to extract the juice from the Pineapple and Papaya. Using a blender or juicer will make this easier for you. If you don't have those you can always crush the fruit cubes and press them through a sieve to extract the juice.
Note: This recipe will make enough of the skin lightening mask for one application. For best results use this once a week for six weeks.
You will need to soak a cotton ball in the juice and apply to your neck and face in a gentle upward motion. Leave the juice on your face and neck for fifteen minutes until it has dried then rinse off with warm water and moisturize as you normally would.
DIY Beauty - Eye Gel For Puffy Eyes
This is another easy and inexpensive DIY beauty recipe that works great on puffy eyes and reducing the swelling during pollen season.
Ingredients Needed to Make the Eye Gel:
2-ounces Aloe Vera Gel (Found in any retail and health foods store)
1/4 large cucumber, washed, unpeeled and cut into cubes
How to prepare the DIY Eye Gel for Puffy Eyes:
First, place the cucumber in a food processor or blender and blend until it is a runny liquid Next, strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve into a measuring jug. Finally, place the aloe gel in a small bowl and add 1 tbsp of the blended cucumber juice.
Note:
This recipe will make 2 ounces of eye gel. If you plan to save the remaining gel it would be best to pour leftovers into a plastic or glass container and put in your refrigerator to chill before using. Chilling it will give it a soothing effect. Shake the bottle well before using. Apply under and around the eyes for best results.
