A very easy crochet project for beginners is the basic single crochet dishcloth. For this you will require 2 ounces of beaten mass of cotton yarn, and any color Size G crochet hook. This is a simple an exciting crochet project for beginners mainly because since this is just a dishcloth, it does not really matter whether you get all the dimensions correct or not. The sides can be longer than usual, or may be even one side can be shorter or longer than the others! It is a crocheting project for beginners and you will have all the liberties required. Just make the dishcloth to basically get a hang of crocheting. To create this project, you simply use a single crochet stitch to create the desired number of rows that you want.
After finishing the dishcloth, if you want to get into something a little bit more complex, try crocheting a doll blanket. For this particular crochet product, you will need 6 ounces of beaten mass of cotton yarn, and any color Size G crochet hook. The doll blanket needs a little bit more effort and can not be made as simply as the dishcloth. Take care to ensure you get the sides done properly. You will also use the single stitch for this project and will just make the finished project at least double the length of the dishcloth.
A single crochet stitch is made by first inserting the hook into the stitch. You will then place the yarn over the hook. Continue by pulling the yarn through the stitch. The next step is to again put the yarn over the hook. To finish, pull the yarn through two loops on the hook. To complete your project, you will repeat this process until you create the desired amount of rows.
Keep practicing the single crochet stitch and you will definitely gain perfection very soon. Since you are a beginner and probably like most beginners, will make some mistakes initially, do not give up. Learn a few tricks and use them to cover the flaws. Some common tricks for beginners include choosing bright colors for the crocheting project. If the color is bright, the product that you make will have an attraction of its own, and even if there are a few flaws, the color and design may just work to cover them. You can also use patch work to cover areas that do not look very nice. If you made some big mistakes, just stick a nice appliqué on it and it is covered!
So do not be afraid to go ahead with the craft. If you feel like crocheting, get the yarn and hook and just get going!
