Mardi Gras activities for kids can be a fun and exciting way to help children learn and celebrate about this holiday. However, some Mardi Gras crafts can be quite complicated and expensive to create. If the goal is to find simple and easy to do Mardi Gras activities for kids, there are many choices available. As a matter of fact, there are three Mardi Gras activities for kids that your little one is sure to love that requires little to no mess and are rather inexpensive.

Traditional Mardi Gras Activities for Kids

One of the most favored Mardi Gras crafts for children is often making the bright colored masks. The parent or other adult will not have to spend much on this activity. All that is required for this Mardi Gras craft for kids is a plain mask, glitter, glue, and feathers or other decals of personal choosing. A plain mask can often be purchased for as little as a dollar or two at various locations and the other materials are also inexpensive and easy to find. Let the child decorate using the glitter and/or any other items that you may find appropriate. Mardi Gras crafts such as these are fun and easy for children because these can often be made without significant help from an adult and each craft is unique.

Beaded Mardi Gras Crafts

Allow your child to make their own beaded necklace for a Mardi Gras craft that is both fun and useful. All that is needed is string and beads. However, these types of Mardi Gras activities for kids may not be appropriate for children of small ages. Beads can end up in the ears, nose, etc. Colorful beads in purple, gold, and green can often be purchased at a hobby shop or at your local Wal Mart. Mardi Gras crafts such as these should also be made functional. After the child has made his or her necklaces, allow them to pass them out around the house for various things.

Other Mardi Gras Crafts for Kids

The possibilities are endless here. My children personally enjoy being made "jester" for the day. Using simple construction paper, allow your little one to make a very colorful crown. Let them decorate as they choose. Markers, colored paper, and jewels can all be added. Mardi Gras activities for children such as these are always diverse, as each child has something quite unique.
