Graduation season is just around the corner, and with financial times the way they are everyone is looking to save costs. You can do that with your graduation and not sacrifice the style. If you have a little bit of craft sense and some time you can make your own graduation invitations. You can make your own completely from scratch, or you can head over to your local office supply or Target and pick up a couple of their announcement template kits. The directions I am going to address are if you get a template kit, as I feel they are the most cost and time effective.

Once you have picked out the specific template kit your doing to use, you will want to make the design a little bit more personal. Maybe add a picture of the graduate in the announcement header, or simply enclose one into the envelope. Microsoft works has a wonderful set of clipart that you can browse through and chose from. Pick your font size and style you would like to use for your announcement and make sure your word processing software is formatted correctly for the template you have selected.

My recommendation for the front of the card is the name of your graduate and the name of the school. You want to keep it simple and informative on the front. This is also the best place to use your clip art if you have decided to use some, as it will have the most extra room. The inside panels are the perfect place for more information on the date and time of your celebration. Weather you're having a picnic or a formal meal make sure you give those kinds of details on the inside. You can use one of the panels for directions to your location as well, it's very helpful and less cluttered that a separate piece of paper with the directions.

To give your invitations a formal finished look you will want to print the addresses onto the envelopes. Unless you have very neat hand writing, if that's the case pick up a calligraphy pen and go to town! But if your like me, and would prefer the help of the printer this works as well. Make sure you change your template over to the right envelope size and as with everything it's wise to do a test first.

Follow these directions and I promise you will have a fast affordable wonderful looking graduation invite. All that's left for you to do after you print is to apply the stamps and drop them into the mailbox. Graduation time can be stressful enough there is no reason to stress over the invitations when you can easily do them yourself.
