Simple Eco-friendly Things You Can Do All Year

There is nothing wrong with taking a day out of the year to dedicate to the Earth and inspire people everywhere to make an effort to reduce, recycle and reuse, but the inspiration shouldn't start and stop on one day of the year. Earth Day should be every day, all year long. So though this article may seem late in its creation it is actually right on time and filled with green steps anyone can follow all year long. Take a look.

1.Start an organic herb garden
2.Start an organic vegetable garden
3.Start a compost pile
4.Plant a tree
5.Swap plants with your friends and neighbors
6.Take your family to the botanical gardens. It's free and beautiful
7.Encourage your kid's school to start a school garden. Let them know you are willing to volunteer some time.
8.Join a CSA. Find one near you at localharvest.org.
9.Reduce the portion size on your plate to the daily serving recommendations on mypryamid.govmypryamid.gov. If you want to loose weight, help the environment and save money this is a good place to start.
10.Save the seeds from your organic foods and use them in your garden.
11.Use toilet paper rolls and newspaper to make seedling pots that can than be easily transferred to the ground without disturbing the roots.
12.If you do buy anything buy local and or organic
13.Make dinner from organic or locally grown food

15.Instead of purchasing an item post a want Freecycle on Freecycle
16.Donate your unwanteuseablestill useable items to a charity
17.Organize a community garage sale
18.Take all your paper trash to a recycle bin at a school so they can earn more money from recycling for the school
19.Make crafts out of recycled material with your kids

21.For a new books go to a library and check some out.
22.Get your pets neutered
23.Stop smoking. Let everyone, including you breath fresh air.
24.Slowly begin to transition yoecomakeup to eco-friendly non-toxic cosmetics.
25.Start using cloth napkins instead of paper napkins at lunch and dinnertime.

8.Pack an eco-friendly organic lunch for your child in a reusable lunch box or bag. Don't forget to include a reusable napkin and utensil.

30.Limit your driving by taking the bike, train, bus or carpooling.
31.Take your empty ink cartridges to Office Depot. They put money into your rewards account and recycle the cartridges.
32.Buy recycled products like paper, ink, pens and so on for your office but before you do, use up and reuse as much as possible.

34.Reuse what you can. Be creative. Even things that don't seem to have another use can. For example aluminum tin cans can be turned into pencil holders.
35.What ever you can't reuse recycle. Take a look at all the recycling bins in your area. What do they recycle? Is there curbside recycling in your neighborhood? Look into it. If there isn't ask for it.
