If you are not sure where to look for craft ideas, there are actually several places to look! One place is at the library. The library should have aisles and aisles of craft books! Of course not all of these craft books will include child friendly crafts, but you are sure to find several that do. Once you have found a craft book or two, you can pick out a few different crafts to do. Make sure that you choose crafts that will appeal to your child. You also need to make sure it is a craft that your child can do!
Next, you and your child can gather all of the supplies you will need for making the crafts that you have decided on. Then you can begin the fun!
You and your child may decide that you really enjoy this past time. If so, you can even make a designated craft table that you use solely for your projects. This craft table could be an old table, a work bench, or even a kidsʼ table!
What other forms of simple entertainment is out there? Children love to color! Coloring can be a very relaxing past time. It can also help your child with their fine motor skills. What are motor skills? Fine motor skills are the simple things that we all learn while we are children. These include using scissors properly, gripping and holding pencils. Coloring can allow your child to exercise these skills more. The more that they use these skills the more and better developed your child will be in this area.
Another simple form of entertainment is taking a walk. Everyone needs to go outdoors and every also needs some exercise. You can even make your walk more fun and entertaining by turning it into a scavenger hunt! How do you do this? All you have to do is make a list of things you may see outdoors. Take the list with you and you and your child can try to find those things on your walk! Your child will love this game! You can even mix it up a little. How do you do that? You can be creative and make your scavenger hunt a list of everything green or only types of plants. The possibilities are endless!
What else can you do with your child that gets them away from the television? You and your child can put on plays with their toys! This is another fun activity that will have you both laughing at once! You can even paint little sets or make up a stage for your play. This activity will allow your child to really use their imagination a lot!
