Simple, Fast and Healthy Meals

Time sure flies by and things have change. Despite that we have better technology and we have faster ways to do some things, most people don't stay at home cooking up complicated and wait hours for the meals to get done. We want things now and since we all are busy compare to the 1950s way, there are healthy and delicious meals that you can make within 10 minutes instead of waiting for an hour to eat.

Lots of on the go meals have too much sugar or have some trans fats in it such as in the case of most granola bars that you see at your regular grocery store. I live close to a big chain grocery store here in Seattle and I am shocked and mad that they carry those products. I would like to recommend some of the healthy meals I have in mind.

I love those wraps, sandwiches and maybe subway sandwiches since they are portable and easy to make with some cheese, meat or tuna fish with mayo or egg, and some lettuce and tomatoes. You get to be creative on what you want and take them along instead of buying a $5 or $10 meal everyday.

Protein and on the go drinks are good even the ones where you have to add water in the mix. For people that are vegetarians, protein drinks are perfect in place of meat as a meat alternative or even to cut down consuming too much meat.

Soups are pretty messy and if you have a thermostat, that would be wonderful since you would be chugging them along. In order to have soups, make it ahead of time and put them in the freezer before you need to use on some occasions such as when you have a family to feed right away or a friend that comes over that need some. Some soups can be cooked within 30 minutes without raw meat which would take longer. Not only are they comforting and can bring some parts of your childhood memories but it's also great if you get to share them along with others. Making homemade soups can be very rewarding especially if your kids get to see you make some or even have them help you. Some of the soups I like is minestrone, chicken noodle soup, tomato soup with chunky tomatoes and seasonings, egg flower soup. Maybe you like soups like a lot of people do. If you need some recipes, they are all over the place such as in cookbooks, online and in magazines.

Rice or noodles with some eggs, tomatoes and bok choy are healthy meals as well. I'm Chinese so I believe in eating fresh and homecook meals but sometimes I don't have that option so I have to make do. My grandma's egg flower soup recipe is used with a canned corn with egg and black pepper which should prove that not everything I make are fresh but still taste great. Sometimes using canned stuff in place of fresh items would work too.

Frozen fruits that you can make are smoothies, milkshakes, ice cream, toppings on some morning foods such as on waffles and pancakes and anything else that I miss. Smoothies are easy to make and are one of nature's best of quick on the go meal but can also be a snack to hold you over.

Frozen veggies are convenient on not just making stir fries but you can also use them in soups. As in the case of corn chowder in place of canned corn. They can be great on giving babies their daily veggie meal by mashing and feeding at least a 6 month old baby.

Whole grain products such as in cereals like Total, Corn Flakes, Cheerios are healthy for everyone and even babies can eat stuff like Cheerios. If you hate the idea of cold cereal, have a quick oatmeal with some fruits and honey to add sweetness or even Cream of Wheat products.

If you are currently eating unhealthy junk stuff that are quick to grab like a Dorito or Lay's, think again. Most of them have trans fat despite what the package claim. Having healthy and cheap ingredients such as fruits and veggies can save you more money in the end especially if you have a family to feed.
