Simple Gardening Tips Using Bubble Wrap

Use it in Your Garden!

Dina Montgomery
Bubble wrap comes with our packages that we order all the time. Usually I give it to my children to play with, and sometimes I like to give it a pop or two. You know what I mean, it does get really addicting. If you don't want to pop it and instead of throwing it out, here are some great tips you can try to put it to great use in your garden.

Simple gardening tips using bubble wrap: For controlling deer around your garden

If you live in an area where there are frequent visits from deer to your garden, you can use this little trick to keep them out. Place sheets of bubble wrap around the perimeter of your garden. Put rocks on them to help keep them in place. Since the deer won't walk on the bubble wrap, this is a great way to keep them from harming your garden.

Simple gardening tips using bubble wrap: Prevent your flowers from freezing

This is an excellent way to prevent your potted perennials from freezing during the winter months. You will need to line the inside of the planter with some bubble wrap, and this needs to be done before you plant them in your garden. Make sure that you allow the plant to drain by not lining the bottom of the planter. The bubble wrap will help insulate the plants and keep them from freezing.

Simple gardening tips using bubble wrap: Protection for your compost

You can use a large sheet of bubble wrap to help protect your compost. Take the large bubble wrap sheet and cover your compost bin. This cover will help protect the compost from drying out by keep the moisture in when the sun is shining. The cover will also help protect the compost from rain and other harmful weather elements.

Simple gardening tips using bubble wrap: Protection for your planters

If you have wood, plastic, or fiberglass planters outside in the winter time, you can use bubble wrap to help protect the planters and the plants growing inside. Simply wrap the planters with bubble wrap to help insulate them from the cold.

To make the planter more appealing, you can place a sheet of tissue paper around the planter before wrapping the bubble wrap around it. Since the bubble wrapping is clear, the color of the tissue paper will show through giving the planter extra color.

These are the simple and easy techniques you can use with bubble wrap to help protect your garden. Use them today and see how helpful it is. I assure you, you will never throw out the bubble wrap again.
