Bedrooms:
Think about key accessories such as lightening and mirrors. You should also consider making a nice color splash with a new comforter, matching pillows, a new set of sheets.
When you are working with kids bedrooms, don't always go straight to the cartoon type comforter sets. Remember kids will out grow these quickly. Instead, consider bolder color styles.
Entry hall or mud room
This is the first room you may see when you walk into the house. Consider changing the color of the wall. You don't have to keep the walls white just to make it look bigger. Bolder colors can do this, too.
You may also want to add a new rug to the floor, add a new bench or at least new pillows to place on the bench.
Living room:
First, before you tackle anything in the room consider if it is time for a new paint job. Are you truly happy with the colors of the walls? If not this is the perfect time to change the entire style of the room with a new paint job. If you don't want to paint the entire room, you might want to just redo one wall.
Next, survey the tables. Is it time to update these? This would be a cheaper alternative than buying new sofas and chairs.
Finally, survey your nic naks and pictures that are sitting on top of your tables and mantle tops. Is it time to store some of these in a nice photo album or better yet a digital frame? Remember sometimes the key to redecorating is to put away some of your stuff to gain a better view of what is left behind in its place.
As you can see, with just a minimal amount of time, money and effort you can update your room and your entire home with just a few simple and inexpensive decorating ideas.

Post a Commenthigh 5 for great ideas!
I wish I had time to decorate.
Very good advice.
These are good, practical suggestions. I like the point you made about children's rooms.

lovely ideas
I'm working on "updating" the rooms as we speak :) cheers! A little dab of paint will do ya :)
You read my mind! I have been eyeballing my bedroom and the kitchen. A new comforter, accent pillows and curtains would really do the trick, but the kitchen needs a coat of paint. We are planning on a move next year, so I will refrain from doing anything drastic. I am leaning towards a smoky French blue for my bedroom with soft lighting for the romantic aspect. : O
Some very good ideas.
Key word being inexpensive. Love it.
Very nice, thanks!
