For a tree branch menorah you are going to need some simple materials that you can get at your local hardware store or retail store, and it will cost you less than 10 dollars if you have the drill. The materials you are going to need are silver spray paint, 9 candle sticks, a medium-sized tree branch, and a drill. First, you need to find a medium-sized or large tree branch from your yard. The tree branch should be in fairly good condition and not be too heavy or thick because you will need to be able to drill holes into it. Once you find the tree branch you like, you are going to need to spray paint the tree branch. You should use silver spray paint or a gray spray paint would work if you rather use that. You need to let the spray paint on the tree branch dry for at least 12 hours in order to make the craft look the best it can. You can let your child help you pick out the tree branch and spray paint, this will give them a sense they are helping create the tree branch menorah on their own. Then, as the adult you need to drill holes into the painted tree branch, making eight holes evenly across the tree branch. The ninth hole needs to be about three inches away from the eighth hole and should stand out more than the others. You can either drill the holes large enough for the candles to fit into or you can use a knife and shape the bottom of the candle to a narrow size for the smaller drill holes. Once you have drilled the holes, you can let your child gather the nine candles and set them in the holes.
This is a very simple and easy craft that you and your child can do for Hanukkah and it is very cheap to get the materials. The best part about the tree branch menorah is they will all look a little different because of the tree branch and the natural art that each tree branch creates. Since tree branches are all different shapes and sizes, you can make a menorah for each room of your house and show your child how much variety the world has. The tree branch menorah should be a craft for your child but you need to supervise the making of the menorah and you also need to drill the holes in the tree branch for your child. This simple and easy tree branch menorah craft can be done anywhere and at any time and can be made within 20 minutes.
