Tuck it Away
Find places for bins and containers that are out of sight. That way your kids can just toss their things in the bins and they don't have to organize them. The easier you make the storage to use the more likely your kids will use it. Try getting bins that can be rolled under the bed or tucked away on a closet shelf. Then the bins are easy to grab, but out of eye sight.
Go Vertical
Utilizing shelving in your children's room is probably the easiest way to get things off their floor. Set up two shelves, one for books, cd's and dvd's and the other for toys, sports equipment, and miscellaneous items. Doing this will make the room look neater and it will be easier for them to put things away.
Use the Closet
One of the number one complaints amongst parents in relation to their kids rooms is the dresser drawers. Kids are not good at folding unfolded clothes and it gets to be a mess. Getting rid of their dresser and using the closet for clothes makes it easier for them to find what they are looking for, thus eliminating the chaos of their dresser drawers. You can easily install wire shelving and bins for folded clothes. Additionally, you can also hang shirts, sweaters and dresses.
Making your child's clothing and toys as easily accessible as possible will contribute to a more organized space. The less they have to do to clean the cleaner their room will be. Additionally, the easier things are for them to find the less mess they will create. Keeping these things in mind when creating storage for your child's room will help you be successful.
