The first single off of Simple Plan's self titled album is When I'm Gone. The song was produced by Dave Fortman and Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and is definitely a departure from the typical sound of the group. The song definitely has more of an urban and electro house element than previous efforts. However the song is fairly solid.
The second single is Your Love Is A Lie. The song is also produced by Dave Fortman and Nate "Danjahandz" Hills. The track feels almost like a progressive R&B track and then switches into a more rock feel. The song is definitely catchy.
Take My Hand is definitely one of the more energetic tracks on the album. The song features a heavy drum driven beat over pulsating instrumentation. The song will definitely have you moving.
End also borrows heavily in the genres of electro and house. The song is one of the catchier tracks on the album and sounds vaguely similar to the mid-90's rock scene.
Save You is one of the mellower tracks on the album and captures the essence which made Simple Plan successful in the first place. The song is definitely solid and easy on the ears.
Generation sounds like a typical urban track and even features a cameo from DJ Khaled. The song is not like anything you would expect from Simple Plan. The beat sounds like a left over from a T.I. album and this will definitely turn off Simple Plan fans.
I Can Wait Forever is another ballad. However this track is much more piano driven. The song is fairly catchy and well written. The vocal however is not the strongest on this track.
What If features lush string sections and is basically an epic track. The song has a great feel to it and just shows that the band can reach outside the box to create a successful track.
Overall, Simple Plan delivers a fairly solid album on their self-titled opus. The album is filled with several very good songs. Simple Plan gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Simple Plan make sure you pick up their self titled album when it is available in stores on February 12th.
