Simple Scrapbooking for Your Graduation Memories

k. ferguson
Graduation is a special time of life when all the hard work is finally done and the fun begins. Graduation scrapbooks can either detail the life up to the graduation ceremony, or it can begin with the ceremony and the summer after. Either way it is done, it will be a memorable occasion captured in a wonderful scrapbook.

There are many ways you can make your scrapbook for your graduate: online, a digital slideshow or a simple scrapbook made by hand.

Some great ideas for your simple scrapbook made by hand would be to gather your graduates favorite colors and themes from your local craft store. Some love cars and travel, others are into sports and cheerleading. Still others are graduating Preschool and love their Tonka or Blues Clues toys. Whichever best fits your graduate; the best place to start is a store like Michaels Craft or even Joann Fabric and Craft Store. Both stores offer great deals and selections on scrapbooking supplies, especially seasonal, like graduation. Other great places to get supplies for your project would be Diddams or Party City. They also supply graduation party supplies that would look great accenting your hard work in your scrapbook.

When thinking about your supplies, you will also want to think about what kind of scrapbook you want to make. Do you want a simple one or a complex one? Do you want one that is on black backgrounds or other colors? Black spiral scrapbooks are great for celebrations like this because you can use bright gel pens to accentuate the pages. You can simply glue your photos to the pages and then write memorable sayings, like the one in the above photo. That particular scrapbook was from a summer of fun, after graduation, years ago. Simple photos with simple words, but it makes a memorable statement. Another great way to keep your memories safe is to use a post-bound scrapbook with plastic protective sheets that cover your newly decorated pages. These are good to keep dirt and dust off of your memories, and to keep embellishments in place, just in case the glue fails and they fall off the page.

Whichever way you choose to make your scrapbook, I am sure your new graduate will love their present. I made one of my son's Preschool graduation and I still treasure it to this day. He is now a 4th grader and I cannot believe he was so small. They grow up fast; so don't put off making your graduation scrapbook. It is worth the time and the care you put in to it. Always remember to use acid free and archival safe supplies. This will ensure your creation will last.
