Simple Seafood: Easy Flounder Recipes

Flounder are one of the most sought-after food fish by anglers wherever they are found. Flounder are a white, mild fish that fits great into many quick and easy recipes.

In the northern part of their range on the Atlantic Coast flounder are known as fluke. These summer flounder range down to the Carolinas, where they are replaced by southern flounder which can be found in the south Atlantic and along the Gulf Coast.

Easiest Broiled Flounder

1 ½ lbs flounder fillets
4 tablespoons melted butter
Paprika
Salt and pepper

Preheat broiler. Sprinkle both sides of fillets with salt and pepper. Pour butter over them and sprinkle a little paprika on top. Broil 3 to 5 inches from heat. Cook 6 to 8 minutes. Before serving pour pan juices over fish. Serves 4.

Tasty Flounder

1 ½ flounder fillets
3 tablespoons catsup
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons soy sauce

Preheat broiler. Wash and dry fillets and place in greased broiler pan. In a saucepan mix and heat other ingredients. Pour over fish and broil for 8 minutes. Serves 4.

Baked Flounder in Spinach

1 ½ flounder fillets
2 packages frozen chopped spinach
1 cup sour cream
1 med onion, chopped
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 ½ tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon salt
¼ lb sliced mushrooms
Paprika

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook and drain spinach. Mix sour cream, onion, flour, lemon juice, and salt. Add half this mixture to spinach. Place in bottom of shallow baking dish. Arrange fillets on top and mushrooms around fillets. Spread remaining mixture on top. Sprinkle paprika. Cook for 20 minutes. Serves 6.
