One of the major components of a productive day is preparation. Whenever possible, you should try to be as prepared for your day as possible. One way that you can do this is to make a list of everything that should be done on a particular day the night before. Knowing and reminding yourself of exactly what you have to do the night before you have to do them will allow you time to organize your thoughts, and routine for that particular day. There are many components of the day that we know that must be performed each day. Some of these items are making your bed, getting dressed, eating, and cleaning. Since you know that these things must be done each day, here are some simple steps that you can do to make your day more productive:
1) Decide what you are going to wear each day the night before. Once you decide what you are going to wear, set these out the night before. Many people even set out an outfit for each day of the week on the weekends, or their days off. They simply organize their closet to where a certain section contains the outfits that they will wear throughout the week. This, of course, is the most effective method. However, if you are a mood dresser, it may be more convenient to prepare ahead by only a day. A mood dresser is one that wears particular clothes as they "feel". Most people in the world are mood dressers.
2) Another great idea, when setting out your clothes for the next day, is to prepare and set out any accessories that you may need for the following day. This may include shoes, undergarments, jackets, office supplies, hair accessories, and jewelry. It is much better to set out these things the night before when you are more alert and do not feel rushed. This will ensure that you can simply and easily gather all that you need for your day the next morning.
3) The night before, you may also want to make lunch preparations. If you normally eat out, ensure that you have enough cash on hand to do so. If you prepare your lunch, then do so at this time. This will help you save at least ten minutes in the morning, sometimes more.
4) Each night, you may want to spend a few minutes cleaning up around your home. It is better to spare a few minutes each day and dedicate them to house cleaning than to let it all pile up and do it all at once.
5) Once you have completed all the other simple steps to make your day more productive that are mentioned above, you may want to set out any necessary items that you may need to cook the following day. If you want beef stew, you will want to gather all your vegetables, set out your meat to thaw out, and get out all the necessary cooking utensils that you may need. This way, once you return from work, or get ready to cook, everything is organized and in one place.
Once you wake up in the morning, there are more simple steps that can make your day more productive. The first step is to make up your bed and organize your things that you use to sleep. This may include masks, medications, and other things. Once you are ready and are off to work or to run your errands for the day, you should make it a habit to take the garbage out along with you. In addition, when you leave for work, you may want to leave a few minutes early so that you have plenty of time to arrive. I always set my watch and clocks five minutes ahead of the actual time. I know in the back of my mind, that it is five minutes earlier, but you eventually get in the habit of adjusting yourself to the five minutes and learning to live by your time.
What I have offered here are a few simple steps to make your day productive. These steps have worked for my family and I. You may have your own way of doing things, so you may want to adjust the activities listed here to suit your needs.
