Simple Steps to Losing Weight: Some Maybe Not as Obvious as Others

Kyle S.
Lets face it, there are millions of overweight individuals in America and obesity is quickly becoming one of biggest health problems Americans have ever faced. The sad part is that most of these individuals will pay through the nose for diet pills, fad diets and electronic ab belts to lose weight when it's simply unnecessary.

There are very simply steps that each and everyone out there can take to lose weight efficiently and keep it off. It doesn't involve starving yourself, working out three hours a day or eating only vegetables. The steps are actually fairly simple and most people follow them without knowing but it's the combination of steps that really work. Here's an overview of some steps to losing weight.

First off, you can't lose weight without exercising. It's recommended that you do at least 30 minutes to an hour of exercise each day. It really varies by how intense your workout is. If you plan on some walking then you should probably do around an hour each day.

If your more into intense cardio routines, then a half hour a day should do you fine but it's really up to you. I know a lot of people hate exercise but try doing small things like taking the stairs instead of an elevator, park further out at the store, maybe even take a few extra laps around the mall when your there. Its small things that can add up each day that makes a difference.

When it comes to eating right, it should be a no brainer what you should and should not eat. If you eat fast food five times or more a week your obviously putting yourself at risk for all sorts of diseases and not to mention your going to pack on the pounds in no times. If you enjoy food such as burgers, try removing items such as mayo, cheese or other forms of extra fat and calories that will pile up in a hurry.

Make sure you always add some form of vegetables or fruit to your diet each day to add essential nutrients. Soda is also another thing you should cut out as much as possible due to its massive sugar amounts. Too much soda intake on a daily basis can lead to diabetes.

Calcium is another essential component when trying to lose weight. It's been proven that adding calcium to your diet each day can actually help you lose weight. This is a simple task each day and you probably do it without thinking about it. Drink a glass of low fat milk during the day sometime or maybe a few slices of low fat cheese or cottage cheese for a snack. Daily calcium intake should not be any problem unless your lactose intolerant of course.

Water is probably the most important component when trying to lose weight. Water should be your primary liquid intake each day since it contains no calories and can help flush out toxins and other hinders in your body that can slow down your weight loss. Water is also key when it comes to determining whether you're really hungry or not. Most people confuse hunger with thirst. Next time you feel a bit hungry, try drinking a glass of water and see what that does for you. You might be surprised.

The final tip in losing weight and one of the key tips is that you must have an interest to do this. If you have no interest in losing weight then you are pretty much doomed before you begin. You have to have a motive whether it's getting healthy, looking good or gaining self-confidence.

If you have no motive then you probably will just sit around asking yourself why you're bothering to do this. Right down some goals and don't try to over do it. Weight loss will take time and effort and your not going to lose 50lbs in two weeks. If you lose 2-3 pounds a week, then you're in good shape. Just remember to follow these tips, have goals and bottom line, just have confidence
