Most refurbished computers can be bought at deep discounts as compared to brand new computer. Refurbished computers are nothing more than a regular computer that has had a part replaced somewhere. It could be something as small as a processor or memory stick. Either way, the fact that a part had to be replaced means it couldn't be sold as brand new and had to be sold as refurbished. That's a great deal for you.
If you are considering buying a refurbished computer, here are are a few tips to keep in mind.
# If you're going to buy a refurbished computer, it is best to buy it from the manufacturer. The computers that are sold through a manufacturer are guaranteed to contain the original parts that were intended for that computer. If you had to replace a hard drive on the computer, then there's a good chance the hard drive used is the same as the one that was defective.
Also, a computer that has been refurbished from the manufacturer has been through more quality control inspections than a newer model because it must receive an approval in order to be sold again. This is not a guaranty that your computer will last you for 10 years, but you can ask the company why the unit was returned and what repairs were made to ensure it wouldn't happen again.
# Ask about an extended warranty on the computer you're buying. If something goes wrong you want to make sure it's covered by the company you're buying it from. Warranties vary from company to company and can be determined by what kind of computer you're buying. If a company doesn't have a warranty on it's refurbished computers, it's probably best to stay away from them.
Also check out the return policy. If possible try and get a 60 day policy. If someone did a hack job repairing the computer, it'll probably go bad within 60 days. This will allow you to recoup the cost of your computer and let you look at getting one elsewhere.
Use these tips to help ensure you're making a wise decision when it comes to buying a refurbished computer.
