Simple Tips and Tricks for Conquering Countertop Mess

Clutter-free Your Space!

Dina Montgomery
If you are anything like the millions of Americans this day and age, you probably have a messy kitchen countertop. With all the gadgets that we have, it's a wonder if we will ever get to see the countertop again without clutter and mess. Here are some easy tips you can use to help with that clutter and mess and actually see what color your countertop is once again.

Help with clearing space for your countertop

Now, take a look at your countertop, by chance is your five year old food processor in the same location as you put when you first brought it home? Even though you only use it a few times a year, is it just sitting there collecting dust? You can easily cut down on all that clutter by putting it away and cutting down on all that countertop clutter. By putting away the appliances that you only use occasionally and keep the ones you use more often, like your coffee maker and toaster on the countertop.

Keep a clutter free countertop by wall-mounting as much as possible. Like your telephone and answering machine, they can be hung on the wall. When you are in the market for other things such as a kitchen radio or a small television for your kitchen, look for those types of models that can be installed under the cabinet.

Help with storing your kitchen appliances

One thing that is great for appliances that take up a lot of space in your kitchen is to create a built-in countertop storage area. These storage areas hide small appliances such as your blender, food processor, and even your toaster while also giving you easy access to them as well. The storage space can be recessed into the wall which means that your appliances won't take up any of your precious counter space.

Your dishwasher can be more than a dishwasher

A great trick to use is to run the dishwasher at night. You might be asking why running your dishwasher at night has to do with conquering countertop clutter. It has a lot to do with it. For one thing, running your dishwasher at night saves energy cost and when you run it at night; you can empty it first thing in the morning which means you can put all of those breakfast dishes in the dishwasher before you leave the house in the morning, getting rid of all the clutter. So when you come home at night, your dishwasher is already filled and ready to go and you have a clutter-free countertop.

Spoons that don't clutter and are accessible

To help save your sanity, it is necessary to give up a little counter space to make your life a bit easier. If you find yourself constantly digging around in your kitchen drawers searching for your wooden spoons, spatulas, and other kitchen utensils, you can save yourself a lot of heartache by getting them out in the open for easy access. If you have an oversize mug or any other ceramic container that can hold a half-dozen or more whisks, spoons, and other kitchen utensils, it would be perfect for storing near your stove so you can easily reach out and grab what you need. And there is a bonus to this; you can wash out plastic storage bags for reuse, by placing them over the utensils to dry without cluttering.

Easy and simple little tricks you can use to help keep your countertops free of clutter and mess. Yes you can have a beautiful kitchen and keep it that way.

Great ideas. We don't have room for a dish washer, so our draining board is the equivalent, full of washed up pots and pans that need to be put away in the morning. I wish we had more counter-tops, since there is rarely enough space for all the gadgets that we have. If I have a fancy chopper or slicer etc, and it needs to be dug out of a cupboard, assembled, then cleaned and put away again, I usually resort to using a knife instead and doing the job manually.
