Simple Tricks to Save Money Shopping Online

Sarah Rachel
With the expansion of the Internet, more people are starting to do a great deal of shopping online. In the mid '90s, eBay started to take off, and now millions of dollars exchange hands on eBay daily. There are now over a billion web sites on the web, and many of these web sites are e-commerce. An e-commerce site is one that specifically sells products that can be purchased with a credit card or PayPal. Some e-commerce sites will also contain helpful information in addition to offering great products. There are so many things you can do to save money when shopping online.

1). Comparison Shop. This may seem like a no brainier, but many people fail to do this and just buy an item on the first site they see. When shopping for an item be sure to look and compare prices at more than one web site. For instance, if you're in need of a garden hose type "garden hose" into a search engine. Then compare the prices for various garden hoses on the first few sites listed. You may also be able to find some sites who offer free shipping in addition to a great price. You can also do this on ebay. Ebay is a buyers market because there are typically more sellers than buyers and these sellers are competing for your business. Check out auctions for bulk items that you may need, like baby clothes or diapers. I love to buy designer baby clothes on ebay for my two boys. I have been able to purchase huge lots of brand new Tommy Hilfiger, and Ralph Lauren outfits for my boys for around $100.00 on ebay. If I were to go out and buy these items individually at the various stores it would cost me well over $600.00, in addition to the time it takes to go find the items. Shopping online also helps you to save time!

2). Use Coupon Codes. Many people are un aware that they can use coupon codes to get free shipping or a percentage off on an item they decide to buy online. Coupon codes can be found at these web sites:

3). Discount Stores. Another great way to save when shopping online is to take advantage of the offers available at various discount stores. Some of the biggest well known stores are www.overstock.com and www.amazon.com Amazon offers free shipping when you spend over $25.00, and they even offer coupon codes that cover shipping on smaller items. The vast majority of their books are discounted as compared to retail stores such as Barnes and Noble or Borders.

These are just a few things you can do to save money shopping online. In the up coming weeks I will be posting more articles about how you can save on groceries, learn better budgeting, save on gas and other methods for stretching your dollar even further.
