Are you one of those people who has been blessed with a weak stomach and frequent stomach aches and pains? Well, do not fear because there are various things that you can do to prevent some of those aches and pains from coming and ruining your day. Although you cannot change the way your body reacts to certain foods and situations, you may be able to help avoid a significant number of stomachaches or lessen the intensity of the ones that you do get.

I had stomachaches my whole life. I began to have stomach problems as a baby and had them all the way up until I reached my twenties. The reason I had so many problems with my stomach was partly due to my own body, but mostly due to the habits I took part in.

For one thing, I chewed my food way too quickly. I was basically a vacuum cleaner compared to the rest of my family. Later in life, I found out that gobbling down your food causes you to inhale more air into your stomach. This eventually becomes gas, which causes stomach pressure and pain. Eating too quickly also puts your stomach on overload and it has to work extra hard to digest the food. I have now begun to eat much slower and have experienced a significant decrease in the amount of stomach aches I get.

Chewing gum also causes a lot of gas as well. This is because while you are chewing, you are also inhaling air on a very frequent basis. Each time you open your mouth to chew, you inhale more air, which goes right into your stomach and causes pressure. This leads to a painful stomach ache.

I also ate a lot of junk food and soda. Junk food, fried foods, baked goods, soda, and the delicious treats we all love tend to mess with our stomachs. Certain sodas, such as seltzer or sprite can calm a stomach down, but most sodas, due to the high concentration of gas and bubbles that they contain, cause stomach pain. Our taste buds love junk food and baked goods, but our bodies long for healthy food that we will benefit from and won't cause a disaster area on our insides!

There are other causes for stomachaches and pains, including medical conditions, but these are some of the common causes that most people tend to overlook when faced with delicious food. Live life and enjoy those "bad" foods we all love once in a while, but control the quantity and frequency in which you do. Your stomach will thank you for it!
