Clutter in your home can create clutter in your life. Think about how you feel when your home is clean and organized. You tend to feel organized in other areas of your life. This works both ways. A messy house can make your life messy. I have figured this out the hard way. It is still something I try to achieve and work on everyday.
One aspect of clutter I have seen in my own life is in regards to the many attempts to lose weight. When I finally did start losing weight and sticking with it I noticed other areas in my life started getting more organized as well. I'm not sure where the motivation came from. Perhaps the cleaner house motivated me to stay with my weight loss efforts. Maybe sticking to my weight loss help me strive to keep my home cleaner. Either way it works for me! There is definitely a connection between a messy home and a messy life.
This is also true with our mind. We sometimes have a lot of clutter in our minds that won't let us let go of thoughts or negativity. You would be surprised of how much influence our self talk has on the decisions we make. We believe what we tell ourselves. We don't want to disappoint ourselves so we see to it that what we tell ourselves come into fruition. For example, if we tell ourselves we will never be able to lose weight then we probably won't. If we tell ourselves that we are not one of those people who keep a really clean house then we probably will be right. The same goes with positive self talk. If we believe in ourselves and tell ourselves we can do it, then we can.
What I have found to be a good way to start on decluttering your life is to take it one day at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day so your home and your life won't be decluttered and organized in a day. I suggest to just take small steps everyday. Work 15 minutes a day in each room. When 15 minutes is over then stop. If 15 minutes a day in each room is too much then do just one or two rooms a day. If losing weight is something you want to achieve then just concentrate on one day at time. When it comes to weight loss it definitely is a one day at a time adventure. When it comes to your mind as soon as a negative thought comes up quickly replace it with a happy thought. Just try it and see what happens.
Decluttering is an ongoing process. You can achieve it, it just takes perseverance.
