You can incorporate exercise in almost everything you do. Yes, even if you sit behind a desk all day long.
To do this, all you have to do is use your muscles. If your sitting in a chair, it's really easy to exercise your butt muscles. Just tighten them, hold for a little while and release. Repeat. Simple, huh? What about your abs. While you sit in your chair, tighten them, hold, release, repeat. To work those love-handles, all you have to do is turn side to side instead of turning your whole chair, turn your upper body. You would be surprised at how doing these little things actually add up.
What if you work in a fast-food restaurant? Make your movements count by concentrating on them. Use the same movements that you would if your were actually doing an exercise routine. Have to scoop the fries? Twist at the waist while you do it. Taking orders behind the counter? Exercise your butt and gut at the same time by tightening them and releasing them. Need to reach above your head for something? Stand on your tip toes, this exercises your calf muscles. Need to get something from under the counter? Squat to do it rather than bend.
Are you a busy housewife? Everyday activities of keeping house can provide wonderful opportunities for exercise. Instead of carrying as much as you can up the stairs at one time, make multiple trips. Park farther away from the door at the store. Stand to fold clothes rather than sit. Concentrate on tightening and releasing muscles. Dance around the house while cleaning, dressing, cooking, whatever. Play a game of tag or catch with your kids. While sitting on your couch, exercise your legs.
Whatever your job, wherever you are, you can make anything into exercise. Simple little movements that are done with some intent can help to burn calories and in turn lose weight.The simple act of tightening muscles and releasing them may not turn you into a supermodel, but it will have a positive effect on your life. I'm not saying that you will lose tremendous amounts of weight, but every little bit of exercise you do, no matter how you do it is beneficial. to your health.
So, stop making excuses and start making your movements count.
