"Simply Car-Free: How to Pedal Toward Financial Freedom and a Healthier Life" by Tammy Strobel: An Ebook Review

Annie Jean Brewer
Tammy Strobel went from a two-car household to a zero car household in a time period of three years. She not only shares this experience with the reader, but outlines the steps a reader should take while deciding if a car-free life is for them.

Should the reader make this decision, Tammy has prepared a wealth of resources for the beginner, complete with links to external resources, anecdotes, tips, tricks and even a guest section by Everett Bogue concerning the free rental of bikes in cities.

What is this Ebook About?

This book contains 20 chapters on subjects concerning car-free principles, saving $8,000 a year, rethinking necessities, bike buying tips, building confidence on the road, maintenance and upkeep, protecting your bike from theft, proper biking attire, winter biking and other subjects.

She has filled these pages with links and references so that those in search for more information can locate it easily. Those who are unable to go totally car-free are not left out, for she even includes a chapter on going car-lite.

For those worried about shopping or transporting guests she covers that as well, including an amazing link called Grandma's Got Bak that I cannot resist sharing here. That one link says volumes about the information contained within this book. Tammy did her research, and it shows on every page.

What Are the Best Features of this Ebook?

This reviewer has problems choosing the best features of this book. There is an incredible amount of information presented in a clear, concise style with an abundance of links to enable the reader to research further if he desires.

This book is not preachy in the way that a lot of car-free publications are. She presents the data that demonstrates the financial, ecological and health benefits without forcing the subject. She is very careful to make the reader feel no pressure to join the car-free lifestyle, which this reviewer appreciated.

This reviewer has a habit of locating at least one item to suggest improvement upon, but in this case I could find none. The text is clear, the layout is simple yet elegant, the information is very well researched and presented in a way that is not pushy in the slightest.

"Simply Car-Free: How to Pedal Toward Financial Freedom and a Healthier Life" By Tammy Strobel: An Ebook Review

This book was a pleasure to read and contains a number of links that this reviewer plans to revisit at a later date. By not condemning car owners she has encouraged this reviewer and hopefully others to consider making the change to a car-free lifestyle.

I have to give this book an overall rating of 5 stars out of 5 possible. This book more than accomplishes the purpose it set out to do, it is clear and pleasurable to read and is priced at a very reasonable price. I look forward to reading any future works that Tammy decides to create.
