Who can forget Sinead O'Connor and her famous shaved head from the 1990's?

Born Sinéad Marie-Bernadette O'Connor in Dublin, Ireland, Sinead O'Connor is the artist behind the 1990's hit 'Nothing Compares 2 U' and Grammy-winning 'I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got'. Sinead made the list of People's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1991. She is ranked 35th on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock N Roll. In 1991 she won the International Female Brit Award. All in all, Sinead was a huge success in the 1990's.

Sinead released eight albums in her career. In 1987, she released "The Lion & The Cobra"; in 1990 "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got"; in 1992 "Am I Not Your Girl?"; in 1994 "Universal Mother"; in 1997 "So Far... The Best Of Sinead O'Connor"; in 2000 "Faith and Courage"; in 2002 "Séan-Nos Nua"; in 2003 "She Who Dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High Shall Abide Under the Shadow of the Almighty". She also had vocals in Peter Gabriel's "Us" album from 1992 in the songs "Come Talk to Me" and "Blood of Eden".

Sinead's head wasn't the only controversy of her career. In 1990 at the Garden States Art Center in New Jersey Sinead refused to go onstage after 'The Star Spangled Banner' played. When she won her Grammy from N.A.R.A.S., Sinead refused to accept the award in the Best Musical Performance category for 'I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got' (1990). It made her the first artist to shun N.A.R.A.S. In 1992, Sinead tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II on live television on Saturday Night Live on NBC as she shouted, "Fight the true evil!". The television show immediately received numerous complaints from viewers for Sinead's actions.

O'Connor announced her retirement in 2003, immediately following her announcement that she suffers from fibromyalgia. She also wanted to spend her time raising her four children: Jake (1987), Roison (1996), Shane (2004) and Yeshna (2006).

The retirement was short-lived. Although she hasn't released another album, Sinead is still making appearances on shows such as The Late Late Show. She also wrote and performed the song from The Water Horse "Back Where You Belong". She has performed vocals for several television shows and films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Fred Claus and Sputnik.
