Singer Christina Aguilera Arrested for Being Publicly Intoxicated

30-year old pop princess Christina Aguilera was arrested early Tuesday morning in Los Angeles on charges of public intoxication, MTV reports. Her boyfriend, Matt Rutler, was arrested for a DUI during the same traffic stop.

Aguilera was said to be unable to take care of herself when Los Angeles County police officers pulled her and 25-year old Rutler over at 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning under suspicion of drunken driving. Aguilera was arrested and taken to the jail at West Hollywood Station where she was released later Tuesday morning on a $250 bond.

Aguilera's boyfriend's bail was set at $30,000 for his misdemeanor DUI charge. He was also released on Tuesday morning.

Aguilera was fingerprinted and booked for her public intoxication brew ha-ha, but Los Angeles County police officials say that it is unlikely that she will face any criminal charges. Rutler, however, will be prosecuted on his DUI charge.

TMZ reports that a friend of Aguilera has been trying to get the wayward singer into rehab for alleged substance abuse. In addition to this mishap, Aguilera recently forgot the words to the National Anthem during the 2011 Super Bowl. Some speculate that the singer is entering a downward spiral, as her newest album received only 250,000 sales. Her tour was canceled due to the disappointing sales.

Aguilera also stumbled during the Grammys in February.
