Singer Discusses Positive Message

As a vibrant and young 21 year old, Justin Lanning, who resides in Los Angeles, is on a mission to communicate a positive message to his audience, no matter what obstacles a person has to face.

His main attribute is his charisma and charm that he gives. When he was on the phone, he takes the time to really listen to what you say, and has a real upbeat personality.

Justin Lanning, as a musician is a whole new breath of fresh air, and a delight to speak with. Lanning resonates with his audience that comes from all various age groups, and backgrounds.

"I believe my record has a wide range to it," Lanning said.

When starting a record, Lanning feels that it is important to make sure that whatever he produces is somehow connected to his fan base.

"I make the music for my fans," he said. "I never lose sight of that."

There is quite an art at coming up with a song, and actually writing it, but one way that Justin starts out is to come up with a theme.

"It usually starts with the piano," he said. "I'll usually hear a little melody in my head."

Lanning states that all forms of art are really beyond us, and if you are willing to open yourself up, you can be a channel of whatever the art is that you are trying to convey.

In his quest to give a positive message to his audience through musical expression, Lanning uses many illustrations to connect with his audience, and in doing so, one of the ways that he is able to stay positive is to take time for reflection.

"The first thing that I do is breathe," he said. "I think there's a real power in breath. "

Lanning has been trained as a breath work healer, and feels that by taking the proper time to meditate that you can get through many of the obstacles that life throws at you.

"I have my own philosophies of life and spirituality," he said.

His musical expressions are a mixture of various artists such as Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and Blink 182.

"My music is melodic pop rock," he said. "That is a wide spectrum of an audience there."

Lanning can play many instruments including the piano, drums, guitar, and bass.

He named his record after his father, "King George Records," because of his father's involvement at taking him to auditions at a young age.

Lanning also mentions how important his family is to him, and that without the love and support of his mother, and brother, as well as his fans, that he wouldn't be where he is today.

As you speak more in-depth with this musician, you come to appreciate the energy that he brings to his music, and in all he does.

His new CD which has been release is titled, "Behind These Eyes," which is a collection of his thoughts and experiences.

Lanning's ability to show his creativity in the expression of music comes from the heart and he is passionate about what he does.

In fact, he sold his Chevy Trailblazer to help fund his music and make it the best that it could possibly be.

Throughout the entire interview, Lanning was adamant that you always keep going and no matter what give it your best.

He describes the solution to life is to not be a quitter, but to always move forward.

"I don't take no for an answer," he said. "I'm always working hard to pursue my dreams."

Furthermore, Lanning gives the concept of life as a "gold nugget of information," and that we all have a choice as to how we will use that to our benefit.

Much of his success as an artist is also his personal connection of not only tailoring his music to that of his fans, but that he communicates with them through various ways on the Internet.

While Lanning states that he is not able to respond to all of his fans, he wants them to know that he will always have their best intentions at heart, and no matter what the future holds, that he will not become some famous person who loses sight of where, and how he got started.

"I do my best to try and keep in touch with my fans," he said. "One thing that I'll always do is keep the fans number one."

Lanning offers fans a chance to get connected in many ways by joining his fan club, and also being part of the Justin Lanning Street Team. His plans are to get these two outlets more interactive and to make them another way to get connected with him.

"I plan on making them more fan intensive," he said. "It's a very exciting time; I've got a lot of support from all around the world."

When asked about his music, and if it has had any impact on his fans, Lanning mentions that he has had numerous fans come up to him and thank him for writing his music, and how it has touched them in some way.

"People come up to me all the time and it's humbling," he said. "A musician or artist can only hope to touch somebody's heart."

Lanning has been highlighted as an actor with television roles on "CSI: Las Vegas," and he also won on MTV's "Score," with Ryan Cabrera. In addition, he has done numerous television commercials as well.

"Ryan is a really nice guy," he said. "It was a real blast to be on a MTV show, and have such a good reaction from it."

As much as he has been in the spotlight, what really comes through is his humbleness when he speaks with you. Lanning is an enthusiastic personality with a real heart for people.

He definitely is a people person, and mentions that he gets a high when he is on stage, and able to be the center of attention, with his musical talent.

"It's a big high," he said. "And, what I try to do while I'm performing is bring my consciousness, talk about issues that need to be addressed, and send a lot of love."

Lanning is currently on the road with his album, and wants to continue to develop himself further as a musician, and to eventually be able to do a world tour.

"In the near future, I do plan on going on a full national tour and beyond," he said.

He has been offered contracts with label companies, but declined them because he wanted to have the ability to be authentic, and to not sugar coat who and what he is.
