Singers Who Have Not Ever Recorded a Christmas Album

Cheryl Engelke
Christmas is around the corner and the newest celebrity Christmas albums are already on the shelves. From 90s titillating trio, Wilson Philips with "Christmas in Harmony" to "American Idol" star Katherine McPhee with "Christmas is the Time;" Christmas albums have become a staple to just about every singer to hit the stage. I was curious though, as to which artists never did or have not recorded a Christmas album over the years. You may be surprised at the results.

Although some crooners, like Judy Garland, mother of Liza Minnelli, have recorded Christmas songs individually or performed Christmas specials for television or radio that were eventually compiled into an album, an entire album of Christmas tunes was never recorded.

50s rocker, Jerry Lee Lewis, who released a new album this year entitled "Mean Old Man," may still be rocking along at 75 years old. "Mean Old Man" is a compilation album with other music great such as Keith Richards, Kid Rock, and Willie Nelson. However, Lewis has never released a Christmas album.

Buddy Holly, whose tragically short life (along with Richie Valens and J.P. Richardson "The Big Bopper") robbed us all of his musical gift, possibly would have released a Christmas album like other singers of the time like Elvis Presley.

Madonna, famous for her outrageous outfits and fad evoking style, was always a rebel. It's not surprising that she never produced a Christmas album. Although during her Marilyn Monroe doppelganger stage, she could have done a great Santa Baby.

Billy Joel, possibly one of the most talented songwriters of our day, penned the song "Christmas in Fallujah" about being a soldier in Iraq. While it is a wildly popular single, Joel has not released a Christmas album, but has recorded "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" on Rosie O'Donnell's Christmas CD.

Other artists who have not recorded Christmas albums include Phil Collins, the Black Eyed Peas, Cat Stevens, Little Richard, and Roy Orbison.
