Single on Valentine's Day

For lovers, Valentine's Day can be the most romantic day of the year. A day to over-indulge on chocolate, get roses at work, and plan a romantic dinner for two. Known as a "Hallmark Holiday", Valentine's Day is one of those days where men and women spend ridiculous amounts on gifts, cards and candy. But for a single person, you feel left out and depressed. When everyone around you is kissing, hugging and sharing the romance, it can be a lonely time. Here are a few ideas to make Valentine's Day fun if you are single.

First off, if you're one of the people that see right through Valentine's Day for what it is, laugh it off. Walk through the stores and laugh at the people spending crazy amounts of money on sappy gifts. Laugh at the men buying the huge ridiculous red stuffed hearts and lingerie that will never be worn. Laugh at the women buying boxer shorts with red lips on them, and mushy cards for a man that will not understand. You can be the one to stand back and laugh it off, because you see how insane Valentine's Day can be, and that people actual stress over it. Just treat it like another day, and enjoy the antics of other people!

You can take advantage of the holiday and the events going on that night. Some places offer singles dances, speed dating, you name it. Use it as an excuse to get out and meet someone if you're in the dating scene. Odds are, you may find another single in your situation, spending Valentine's Day on your own. Maybe you can find your soul mate, if not, just let it go and have a good time. Go to a nightclub and dance, have a few drinks, do whatever you like. Party down like it is a special day for you too. Valentine's Day can be celebrated by everyone, not just the lovebirds.

Another relaxing and fun option is to go all out and pamper yourself. You don't need a partner to buy you nice things, you're independent, put on the glitz. Buy yourself a box of chocolates and indulge in them, eat some extra ice cream, even treat yourself to a fancy dinner. Go out and buy yourself some new jewelry and a new outfit even! Or plan a day at the spa, getting facials and massages. Get a new haircut, or ladies get your makeup done. Just treat yourself right on this day and pamper yourself. Do whatever you like and make the day yours! Take the day off work if you want and enjoy it!

These are just a few fun ideas to make Valentine's Day fly by painlessly. Odds are, you will enjoy yourself and laugh the holiday off. Its just another day on the calendar. You don't need a special someone to relax and have a good time. Make plans this year to make the day your own!
