When you think about id card printing, you have to consider single sided and double sided printing options. You can even choose both. Whether or not you choose one or the other depends on your security needs, your Photo ID System, your budget, and more.

Many institutions use double sided-printing, such as universities, colleges, military, police, and government agencies. Your credit card and license are good examples of double-sided printing in the civilian marketplace.

Double sided printers offer a higher level of security are thus more expensive then their single-sided cousins, but if you are a high security institution that demands only the best security, they are well worth the investment.

If you have a budget that allows you to invest in a double-sided printer, go for it, but remember to do the research and find the printer that best fits the needs of your company.

Double sided printing usually entails printing one side in color and with images; the back side is usually black and white, with a magnetic strip or barcode. It is important to remember that a double-sided ID card is more secure than one that is single-sided.

However, there are a number of reasons you might only require a single-sided ID Card. If your facility is fairly secure and you feel that there is no real security risk. Many smaller companies use single-sided ID Cards with excellent results.

Also, if you decide on single-sided printing, you can usually print twice as much as a double-side printer and save yourself time and money.

For example if you print 500 ID Cards on a single-sided and double-sided printer. With the double-sided printer, you will actually be printing 1000, and with the single-sided printer you will stay at five hundred.

Small differences exist, depending on the size or capacity of your business or institution that can make the difference between meeting your budgetary and security needs and protecting your employees.
