Singulair and the Possible Links to Suicide

The FDA is trying to review the possibilities of Singulair being the cause of suicidal thoughts in children. They say that a 15-year-old boy possibly committed suicide because of the pill. They have not proven that yet because they say it will take up to 9 months to figure it out. News outlets are reporting that the 15-year-old boy had very aggressive mood swings and very aggressive language when this happened and he was put on the pill because of his allergies and asthma.

I am a medical assistant, and I know that is what this pill is used for.

My brother is on this pill and I have noticed he is depressed more often now then when he was when he was not on the pill. My brother was put on the pill because of his allergies and asthma too. If this is the case I am going to have him taken off this pill and have his doctor find some other alternative medicine he can use until this is all sorted out. My brother is suppose to be on Singulair the rest of his life.

My brother has had very bad mood swings since being put on this pill. I do not know about suicidal thoughts because I am not him, but I know one thing I will be asking him when he gets home.

The news is saying if your child is on Singulair to talk to your doctor about other ways of treating your condition until this whole thing is sorted out.

I have noticed a bog change in my brother from when he first got on the pill till now. He has gotten more mean and more depressed. He always keeps to him self now unlike before he got on the pill you could not shut him up.

It is a shame that someone had to die in order for them to catch this. These pills are suppose to be tested before giving them to people but sometimes people act differently towards pills than other do.

So my advice to people who are in the same boat as I am with my brother, take them to the doctors and ask your doctor about another alternative medicine that will help the allergies and asthma for you child.

I do not want my brother ending up to be like that 15 year old boy who didn't know anything about the pill. I am taking my brother first thing to the doctor's on Monday and having him be put on a different medication in the mean time till all of this research is done and they cannot link it to this boy.
