Among the American Idol Season 9 Top 12 contestants who lack risk-taking portrayed by weak song choices and techniques, one of the contestants has it all together. She is 19-year old Siobhan Magnus from Cape Cod, Mass., who has consistently impressed the American Idol judges with her unique personality, interests, and performances. The judges have pointed out her special quality every week with Ellen using the term "unique" and Simon originally using the term "weird" to hint at her job as a glass blower at a glass shop. With her composed demeanor, she has blown the judges and viewers away with her signature high note that she uttered first at the end of her previous rendition of Aretha Franklin's song "Think" and recently at the end of The Rolling Stone's song "Paint It Black" during Tuesday, March 16's performance. While her singing is compared to that of former Idol Adam Lambert, Siobhan expressed that her high note was inspired by former Idol Kelly Clarkson. Most noteworthy, Sioban's unique personality that shines in her performances is her secret weapon to winning the hearts of the judges and the viewers and soaring on American Idol.

Siobhan sparked heartfelt reactions from the judges after her most recent performance of "Paint It Black." The comments included "Love the look (and song arrangement)" - Ellen, "Did the most with the song and most interesting" - Kara, "Bringing the drama to Season 9; that was hot!" - Randy, and "Standout performance of the night" - Simon. Even more, with her "wow factor" Siobhan connects with a vast audience and is especially relatable and inspirational to young people who are labeled as "different" due to their personality, interests, or looks. These differences are often met with rejection and bullying. Thus, Siobhan is helping to transform society's negative stigma of being unusual into a positive attribute.

The basic concept as witnessed from Siobhan's survival on Wednesday's March 17, American Idol (Night 2) result show is that Siobhan will excel because of her innate qualities of uniqueness, poise, and courageousness, which is what American Idol is all about. Siobhan's secret weapon of getting outside of the box is what brings her high remarks.
