Sioux Falls, South Dakota Hanukkah Celebration

Zacharoo
Sioux Falls, while it is the largest city in South Dakota, doesn't exactly have a huge congregation of Jewish people, so there will not be many festivals and Hanukkah celebrations going on in the city. With that being said I have found one Hanukkah celebration that will be happening. Hanukkah is not a typical Christian or non-denominational Holiday or celebration, but if you wish to get to know your neighbors better, or would like to learn more about the Jewish community, going to a Hanukkah celebration is a great way to do it. This article is to let people know where to find one of these celebrations. I have the location of a Jewish synagogue in Sioux Falls and in Rapid City. Information is given on how to contact them to receive more details if you wish.

Mt. Zion Congregation, the only synagogue in Sioux Falls will be hosting a Hanukkah celebration, or party if you will. This celebration will take place on December 12th, starting at 7:30 PM. All people, no matter what religious preference, are invited to attend. The Mt. Zion Congregation is located on the corner of 14th street and South Duluth Avenue. For more information you can also check out their website: www.mtzioncongregation.com. Mt. Zion Congregation holds Shabbat (Sabbath) services every Friday at 7:30 PM.

This information was received from Marty Gallanter, one of the leaders of Mt. Zion Congregation. For those interested in learning more about the Jewish faith or learning about other religious practices, going to this Hanukkah celebration would be a great opportunity. Remember, this is the ONLY Jewish synagogue in Sioux Falls, thus, the only public Hanukkah event.

This event is not only open for those living in Sioux Falls, but also those in the surrounding area. For those living in the western part of South Dakota, Rapid City also has a Jewish Synagogue. The synagogue there, Synagogue of the Hills may also be having Hanukkah events, but I am unsure as of this time. If you wish to contact them for more information their website is www.synagogueofthehills.org. For those living in Rapid City, the synagogue is located at 417 N 40th Street. Their Shabbat (Sabbath) services are held on Friday evenings at 7:30 PM. Visitors are welcome.

Both sites have plenty of information and provide a way for you to contact them.
