Sipapu, New Mexico is best known as a ski resort town and a summer resort town that offers a lot to do for those that enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer. In fact, Sipapu, New Mexico has been welcoming outdoor enthusiasts since 1952. And the oldest ski resort in all of New Mexico is actually located in Sipapu, New Mexico. It is the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort.

You will find Sipapu, New Mexico located about 20 miles from Taos, New Mexico in the southeastern area of the state. If you are more familiar with the Albuquerque, New Mexico area you can get to Sipapu, New Mexico in about two hours from Albuquerque by heading north.

What makes Sipapu, New Mexico a great resort town is that it is surrounded by the Carson National Forest and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. If you visit the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort for skiing in the winter you can expect to find two terrain parks for beginners and those that do not like crowds, four lifts and over 40 trails. There is also a ski school, a full service ski shop and slope side lodging on site.

The Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort offers plenty of amenities for those that are concerned with that sort of thing. You can find free wi-fi internet access throughout the lodge. There is a wonderful place to get gourmet home cooking on site at the Riverside Cafe.

Skiiing is not the only outdoor activity you will find to keep you busy at the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort. The world class Sipapu disc golf course is located at the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort. It is actually ranked in the top five courses in the entire country. Trout fishing is a big activity at the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort. You can trout fish in their stocked trout pond or take your chances in the Rio Pueblo. It just happens to flow through the heart of the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort. You will need a Nevada fishing license to trout fish on the resort, but you can get one of those at the on site general store. The general store also carries fishing supplies and even gives trout fishing lessons to beginners.

Geocaching is a fairly new activity that you can enjoy at the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort. This is a free activity that the whole family can take part in. Just make sure that you have a handheld GPS unit for the search, good hiking boots and something to leave in the cache when you find it.
