Sir Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Hewes Stewart was born on July 13, 1940 in Mirfield, Yorkshire, England. His mother, Gladys, was a weaver and textile worker and his father, Alfred, was a Regimental Sargeant Major in the British Army.

In 1957 Stewart embarked on a two-year acting course at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Most of his hair was lost at a very young age but he was still able to market himself as an actor, selling the "two for one" deal because he could perform with or without a wig.

Stewart is most commonly known for his role in Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1987 through 1994. He played Jean-Luc Picard, captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise. In 1995 he received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for "outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series".

From 1994 through 2004 Patrick Stewart was in several spin-offs including Star Trek Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, Star Trek Nemesis and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

In 1992 Patrick Stewart was named by TV Guide as the "Sexiest Man on Television". Apparently the early baldness has not held him back and this nomination proves that women love bald men.

Throughout the years Stewart has had roles in several movies including A Christmas Carol, Jeffrey, The Lion In Winter and Moby Dick. In 2000 he started playing the role of Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men. He has since gone on to play the Professor in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Aside from appearing on television and in movies, Patrick Stewart has also done voices for several familiar shows, including The Prince of Egypt, Jimmy Neutrom: Boy Genius, Chicken Little and The Pagemaster. He has also narrated several stories such as Peter And The Wolf, The Four Seasons, The Chronicles Of Narnia and Return To The Centre Of The Earth.

Stewart became "Sir Patrick Stewart" in the 2010 New Year Honours for his service to drama.
