Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume Review

Allison West
Paris Hilton, the actress singer model and celebutante who has made an art form out of being famous for nothing at all, has turned her celebrity status into a veritable cottage industry. Paris Hilton has created a number of women's fragrances over the past few years, and her latest entry debuting fall 2009 is Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume.

Intrigued by the new ads for Siren by Paris Hilton, I was curious if Paris Hilton's new perfume would live up to the Paris Hilton hype, so I sampled it for myself (in my role as perfume reviewer, I'm game to sample all sorts of scents!) Siren by Paris Hilton is definitely a disappointing entry in the celebrity perfume wars, where celebrities vie to see who will create the best selling fragrances of the year.

Siren by Paris Hilton: a Disappointing Fragrance

Paris Hilton cultivates a luxurious image, so I was expecting something better than Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume. Her new fragrance doesn't really smell like a quality perfume at all, and worse than that, it just didn't smell good to me.

The marketing for Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume features ads with Paris Hilton dressed like a mermaid with a long blond wig, resting on a rock in front of the ocean, and the fragrance bottle picks up on the mermaid theme. I thought this was a rather cheesy approach that didn't work well to promote Paris Hilton's new fragrance Siren, and it seemed like a huge misfire to me.

It only went downhill from there, as I actually sampled Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume. This new Paris Hilton scent has a strong top note that is really unpleasant and smells a little cheap, reminding me of bad drugstore perfumes I remember from earlier decades, like the 80s! In my opinion, the culprits are the strong overpowering notes of juicy mandarin, apricot nectar and frangipani flowers that are just too citrusy and flowery for my taste.

A variety of different fragrance notes can work well together to produce an exciting scent, but this didn't happen with Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume. I found Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume to have a slightly medicinal aroma that I didn't like at all, and as soon as I applied this fragrance to my skin, I couldn't wait to take a hot shower and wash it off my skin.

Where to Buy Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume

If you're intrigued by Paris Hilton or a fan of her perfumes and want to give Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume a try, this fragrance can be purchased at department stores like Peebles, Boscovs and Macy's and it can be bought online at Macys.com and Boscovs.com. At Macy's, the 1.7 oz. Eau de Parfum Spray is $45, and the 3.4 oz. Eau de Parfum Spray is $55, and in my opinion, these prices are a little high for an inferior eau de parfum spray.

Paris Hilton has been releasing celebrity perfumes for a few years now, but her new scent Siren by Paris Hilton Perfume is a misfire. Ms. Hilton has been through her share of ups and downs over the years, and recently unveiled a newer more sophisticated look and attitude. It's too bad Siren by Paris Hilton doesn't reflect this new maturity, and I can't recommend this disappointing celebrity fragrance.
