Sirius and XM Sports Channel Comparison

Evan Nash
Whether you like it or not (presumably you do since you are reading this article) there is a seriously dangerous love affair going on between the American public and sports. It didn't just start yesterday and it sure as heck doesn't appear to be stopping tomorrow, but how do you feed your insatiable love for the sport? Do you buy the biggest big screen and the most expensive satellite feed for your home to never leave the couch? Or are you a traveler who needs a constant connection to the sport? If the latter is true consider the following comparison of Sirius and XM sports channels:

Football- Sorry to those who have fallen in love with XM on another level, but if you are placing football play-by-play as your #1 priority in a satellite radio provider then Sirius is the clear winner. Sirius offers complete, yes, complete play-by-play coverage of EVERY NFL game during the season and post-season on separate stations, meaning you never miss a play of your favorite team's game regardless of your position on the planet any given Sunday. On the college level, Sirius offers five major conference's play-by-play in addition to the Ivy League games while XM offers play-by-play of just three conferences.

Baseball- If you are still one of those that believes that Major League Baseball is "America's Favorite Past Time" then don't even consider Sirius. XM carries the play-by-play of nearly every MLB game during the regular and post-seasons while Sirius does not carry any baseball whatsoever. This is an absolute no brainer if you are the type that cannot live without your MLB.

Basketball- This could be just as easy as saying "See above about baseball and reverse" but I'll give you a little more than that, Sirius is hands down the satellite voice of basketball. With basically every NBA game play-by-play throughout the pre-season, regular season, and post-season in addition to the play-by-play of every game of NCAA Basketball's March Madness there is no reason not to have Sirius if you are a fan of hoops.

Hockey- Sirius has the play-by-play of at least 40 NHL games every week in addition to a daily NHL show while XM sports just a show about the NHL everyday. Are you starting to see a satellite radio sports trend here?

Racing- This is merely a test of your racing allegiance. If you like the IndyCar circuit then go with XM and its play-by-play of the races, if you like NASCAR then go with Sirius for the same exact reason!

The rest of the sports scene is basically the same after these exclusive features for each carrier as both have ESPN Radio and their own produced sports shows as well. Based on what you've seen above you can tell that there is a distinct difference between Sirius and XM when it comes to sports coverage!
