'Sister Wives' Brown Family Moves to Nevada for Less Scrutiny of Their Plural Marriage

No Charges Were Brought in Utah for Bigamy

The latest development in the lives of the popular "Sister Wives" Brown family is their move to the state of Nevada where they believe they will receive less scrutiny of their plural marriage. The Brown family was the subject of a police investigation in Lehi, Utah for bigamy after they publicly exposed their illegal activity on television. No charges have been filed leaving the door open for them to get out of town.

Although bigamy is a felony in Utah, prosecutors do not normally file charges against polygamist families unless there is an underlying crime being committed such as child abuse, fraud, rape or child marriage.

Kody Brown and his wives have enjoyed great popularity and fame after their TLC show "Sister Wives" aired last fall. They have already filmed 10 shows for their second season airing in March of 2011. Coming out publicly with their plural marriage has not been easy. The Kody's four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn have endured public scrutiny including Meri losing her job and Kody losing clients of his advertising business.

So far, the show has covered the birth of Christine's sixth child, Truly, and the courtship and wedding of the fourth wife, Robyn. Robyn is a divorced mother of 3 who came from a polygamist background. She is much younger, prettier and thinner than the first three wives which has caused a lot of tension, pain and jealously. Kody's first three wives have been married to him for 20, 18 ad 16 years. They had been together so long, that the lifestyle is completely normal for them and they get along well. Along comes a new wife who wants to take away time from each of them and their children. Kody's wives now only share a bed with him every fourth night.

The details of this family's daily life mesmerize the public. No one can understand how the Brown family manages to keep the peace. We have yet to see the new living arrangements in Nevada, but they are most likely spacious after the extra income they are earning from "Sister Wives." Before the move to Nevada, each wife had her own apartment inside a large family home (except for Robyn, who was moved in down the street). Meri worked in the healthcare industry (until she was fired for being a polygamist), Janelle works full time and Christine ran the house and helpped with the 16 children. Meri only has one child who is now a teenager, Janelle's older children help her younger children eat and get off to school each day.

Christine tries to make dinner for the entire family when she can. It is unclear how Robyn fits into the whole picture, but may be we will find out in the second season. Most of the focus on Robyn surrounded their whirlwind courtship, quick marriage (Kody says the wives don't like girlfriends), and jealously surrounding her relationship with Kody.

Tune in during the second season in March and the third season already under production for later this year to see how the "Sister Wives" are managing their lives in the more agreeable, Nevada.
