Sisterhood

Zenovia B.
When he was mine, him I did not want.
When he turned his attention to you, my body I began to flaunt.

I did not care for him when he was mine.
He then got with you, and then he became "fine."

My next thought was to get close to you.
To become your friend and make you like me too.

There would be times when you and he had problems.
You would run to me to try and help you solve them.

The pain he made you feel, to you I would offer my hand.
I was going to sneak in from the back door and end up with your man.

But then as time passed, you started to become my friend.
Your friendship helped me to stop thinking in that devious way about your man.

My heart is no longer divided between you and he.
But now when I think about it, the other end could have been me.
